Welcome to PISA 2018! ASIP is proud to host this interactive, abstract-driven, focused scientific conference entitled Molecular Mechanisms of Disease: Tissue Homeostasis, Immune Responses and Cancer at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan on October 20-22, 2018. Timely and innovative technologies have vastly impacted our understanding of disease pathogenesis in the last decade. This has come from our improved understanding of the fundamental principles of pathology at cellular and molecular levels. Indeed, the fields of cancer biology, molecular pathology, immunity/inflammation, vascular and mucosal pathobiology, microbiome/infectious diseases and tissue injury/repair have undergone unprecedented growth as we reinforce and challenge existing paradigms and discover new ones.
PISA is aimed at delivering attendees the most exciting and up-to-date concepts in pathogenesis and translational medicine. World acclaimed scientists in these areas will deliver lectures, while experienced members of the program committee will moderate discussion during these sessions to generate a cordial, collegial and contemporary environment for learning and networking. The meeting format will be personal, similar to that of Gordon or Summer FASEB research conferences. Furthermore, the PISA meeting is a great forum for submitting abstracts as there are ample opportunities for trainees and junior investigators to give oral poster presentations in the form of short 3- minute talks that will be included between invited lectures as well as multiple opportunities for abstract-driven talks. Poster sessions will be held in an open atrium directly outside of the auditorium, creating an intimate setting for intellectual exchange and constructive comments, especially for trainees and junior faculty.
Attendees of previous PISA meetings have reported that this event exceeded their educational objectives and that this one of a kind format is a valuable addition to the calendar of every researcher interested in the pathogenesis of disease! We invite you to attend and present your research at PISA in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 2018!
